Alongside her surgical practice, Holly is a Visiting Professor of Healthcare Textiles, University of Huddersfield, with deep expertise in medical textiles, sustainability and medical-device development.

Consultancy and advisory work is available, as a Fellow and registered consultant of the Textile Institute.

Holly is a Visiting Professor at the University of Huddersfield and a PhD supervisor in technical and e-textiles. She is co-author of the textbook Medical Textiles (Textile Institute Professional Publication Series) and of the Medical Textiles entry in the Bloomsbury Encyclopaedia of World Textiles. Her PhD work has been presented on four continents and formed part of PPE pandemic-planning work submitted to Module Five of the Covid Inquiry.

She is an International Council member and Chair of the Healthcare Textile & PPE special interest group; sits on the BSI circular-economy working group; the Healthcare Without Harm (European Division) circular-healthcare working party; and the HTAi Environmental Sustainability Working Group. She advised the RCS Sustainability Group for the UKHACC Green Surgery Report.

Medical devices & regulation.

Holly has direct experience of UK medical-device regulations. She is currently a non-executive director of the start-up Hypoplas, and was previously Chief Medical Officer of Revolution-ZERO, where she built the quality management system, achieved ISO 13485:2016, and maintained product risk registers to ISO 14971:2019. She was named in the “Top 10 Most Impactful Chief Medical Officers to Watch in 2023” by Women Achiever.

She was also a guest on The Textile Nerd podcast, tvfinc.com.
