Professor Holly Morris, PhD CText FTI FRCSEd(T&O) FHEA. A Consultant Orthopaedic Hand & Wrist Surgeon with subspecialist fellowship training in hand and wrist, microsurgery and children’s hand and wrist surgery.

Professor Holly Morris is a highly skilled Consultant Orthopaedic Hand and Wrist Surgeon, treating adults and children.
Her subspecialist fellowship training spans hand and wrist surgery, microsurgery and children’s hand and wrist surgery, with particular interests in congenital hand differences, paediatric hand and wrist pathology, and spasticity. She works closely with hand therapists and views surgery as a last resort for many conditions.
Where the craft was learned.
Holly graduated from the University of Leicester in 2008 with First Class Honours, and completed her foundation training in the UK. She then spent several years in New Zealand working across a range of surgical specialities, before returning to the UK to complete Higher Specialist Training in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery in the East Midlands, graduating in 2023, training under Professor Joe Dias at the Pulvertaft Hand Centre.
A further attachment at the Pulvertaft was followed by a Hand and Microsurgery Fellowship at the Auckland Reconstructive, Plastic and Hand Unit, alongside a short-term consultant post in Auckland. She was awarded the BSSH Stack Travelling Fellowship and the Newton Travelling Fellowship for paediatric and congenital hand surgery, visiting:

She was appointed Consultant Hand and Wrist Surgeon in 2025 at the Pulvertaft Hand Centre, treating adults and children. Her special interests are congenital hand differences, paediatric hand and wrist pathology, and spasticity. She has additional training in ultrasound-guided hand surgery and Spirecut™ (percutaneous trigger finger and carpal tunnel releases), and is a member of the Clinical Surgical Advisory Board for Sovereign Medical USA.
Research-led, and sustainability-minded.
Holly is a Visiting Professor of Healthcare Textiles, University of Huddersfield, with an extensive research portfolio presented internationally and a special interest in sustainability in hand surgery and healthcare textiles. She held a full scholarship at the University of Otago, New Zealand, gaining a Masters in Applied Science with Distinction (Clothing and Textile Sciences), and completed her PhD under Professor Ogrodnik on textile-based medical devices and sustainable health systems.
She is active in the Textile Institute (International Council; chair of the PPE and Healthcare Textile special interest group); the BSI working group “Circular Economy for Textile Products and the Textile Chain”; the Environmental Sustainability Working Group of Health Technology Assessment international; advised the Green Surgery Report on healthcare textiles; and acted as subject expert on healthcare laundering temperatures for an NIHR ESR project.
